COCHLEAR IMPLANT AWARENESS, EDUCATION, INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR ADULTS

Our Tips on Funding For Cochlear Implants:

In New Zealand there are 3 funding options for cochlear Implants:

Independent Funding:

(Whereby the client may purchase the device and their health insurer assist with surgery and rehabilitation costs).

This pathway is the quickest way into receiving a cochlear implant and having hearing restored. To find out more, please discuss with your hearing health professional.

Partial Funding: available in the Northern Region only

(Whereby health funding covers the cost of the device and health insurers may assist with surgery and rehabilitation costs).

This pathway is offered to those on the Northern Cochlear Implant Trust waiting list and there is a waiting time for this option. To find out more, please discuss with your hearing professional.

Full Funding:

(Whereby the device and all associated costs are covered by health funding).

This pathway is available to those on both the Northern Cochlear Implant Trust and Southern Hearing Cochlear Trust waiting lists. To find out more, please discuss this option with your hearing professional.

Please note, there tends to be a lengthy waiting time for this option, which is dependent upon demand and health funding levels.

To find out more about which option may be suitable for you, please discuss with your hearing health professional.
